DOST-PTRI, PH Army strengthen partnership for Telang Pinoy-made defense uniforms
The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) conducted a courtesy visit at the Philippine Army Headquarters, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Taguig City, to strengthen collaboration toward the modernization and standardization of the Philippine Army’s uniforms and other key initiatives.

DOST-PTRI Director, Dr. Julius L. Leaño Jr., led the Institute’s delegation in a meeting with Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, PA, where both institutions discussed ongoing research initiatives, production capabilities, and strategic directions for advancing locally developed textile technologies and products. The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of DOST-PTRI and the Philippine Army to promote textile innovation, self-reliance in local production, and sustainability in the country’s defense clothing materials.
As part of the engagement, the DOST-PTRI team had a guided tour at the Philippine Army's Museum and Heritage Gallery, offering deeper insights into the Army’s history, traditions, and evolving uniform standards. The visit provided an opportunity for the Institute to better understand the operational environment and performance standards expected of military uniforms.
Following this visit, the Philippine Army will also conduct a reciprocal courtesy visit at DOST-PTRI on March 10, 2026.
This strengthened commitment partnership underscores the Institute’s commitment to advancing Telang Pinoy while bringing Filipino innovation, pride, and world-class textile technology to the forefront of national defense.
