Pangasinan Polytechnic College eyes Textile Science development thru its new Innovation Hub
Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) took a step forward in innovation by launching its own Innovation Hub (iHub), which aims to serve as a physical space that fosters collaboration and cultivates ideas that drive science-based solutions to societal challenges from experts in the innovation ecosystem, such as students, scientists, and S&T fellows.

Dr. Julius L. Leaño Jr., Director of the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), delivered a speech at the iHub launch expressing his appreciation and support for the initiative and the college’s commitment to cultural and artistic preservation.
He emphasized the Institute’s goal of strengthening the synergy between science and the arts, describing science as the wheel and the arts as the soul of the nation. Dr. Leaño also emphasized that science, even within the field of technology, must serve as a vehicle for creative expression. He encouraged the audience to begin by listening wholeheartedly to communities to better address their concerns and provide meaningful solutions.
The launch was supported by key leaders and stakeholders in the province, including Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., Secretary of the DOST, Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Dr. Teresita Tabaog, Regional Director of the DOST Region 1, PPC President Dr. Raymundo D. Rovillos, and Vice Governor Mark Ronald DG Lambino of Pangasinan.
The iHub initiative also shows the importance of having a dedicated physical space for innovation that reflects the continued support for science-driven initiatives by nurturing spaces within their communities.
