In line with the 2024 MIMAROPA Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) with the theme “Siyensya, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay,” the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) participated through an exhibition highlighting its textile innovation at the Calapan City Convention Center, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro from May 7-9, 2024.  

The exhibit featured Banana and Abaca textile technologies, Natural Dyes (NatDyes), Nonwovens, and Shoes and Footwear Accessories Research & Development Towards Omni-Solution (SAFATOS), which was visited by the Academe, Local Government Unit (LGUs), and Non-Government Organization (NGOs). 

The aim of the exhibit is to showcase different textile innovations especially for abaca and banana technologies where natural resources abound in Oriental Mindoro.
