The program will exhaustively and strategically use abundant agricultural by-products as starting materials for the development of textile fibers of appropriate lengths for textile processing. This will be the core function of the hub-the generation of new textile fibers from abundant by-products. Competencies in polymer science, material characterization, production and spinnability verification will lay the framework towards the directed development of textile fibers to be blended or spun as it is for a myriad on wearable, industrial or technical textile applications.
