The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) hosted the Textile Innovation Dialogue in Virac, Catanduanes, as part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) Bicol and Abacanobasyon 2.0 on May 22, 2024. 

This dialogue engages abaca textile stakeholders in Region V to explore partnerships, share best practices, identify collaboration opportunities, and encourage community participation to innovate the industry. 

Participating parties included the DOST Regional Office V, Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) - Catanduanes, Provincial Government of Catanduanes, Local Government Units of the municipalities of Pandan and Bato, Catanduanes State University, Tulay sa Pag-Unlad (TUPA) ng Baras / Catanduanes Abaca Producers and Processors Association (CAPPA), and Cagraray Abaca Producers Sustainable Livelihood. 

Aside from the Innovation Dialogue, the DOST-PTRI has also prepared an Abaca Textile Innovation Exhibition located at the CatSU Gymnasium.
