DOST-PTRI HOLDS PHILIPPINE TEXTILE INNOVATION FORUM AT 2024 RSTW CARAGA

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology Caraga (DOST Caraga), hosted the Philippine Textile Innovation Forum as part of the 2024 Caraga Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW), on June 7, 2024, at the Robinsons Butuan North Atrium, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte. 

The forum spotlighted pioneering efforts in the field of textile innovation, focusing on the development of sustainable and locally sourced fabrics. Key topics included "Spinning Innovations for Philippine Silk Development," "Bamboo Textile Fiber Innovation Hubs," "Fostering the Revitalization of Nascent Textile Innovation Ecosystems" (FRONTIER), and Creativity and Equity through Accelerated Textile Technology Engagement and Entrepreneurship Ventures for Vulnerable Sectors (CREATTEEVs).

The discussions highlighted the importance of these innovations in promoting sustainability, enhancing local industries, and reducing reliance on imported materials. The forum also provided a platform for experts, researchers, and industry stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore collaborative opportunities. 

This event marks a significant milestone in the celebration of the 2024 RSTW Caraga , showcasing the region's commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability in the textile sector.
