Building partnerships with Textile Producers and Fabric Suppliers for Philippine Tropical Fabrics

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute organized an Innovation Dialogue with Textile and Garment Producers. The gathering aims to tackle the provisions of the Amended Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 9242, the Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) Law. It involved the presentation and discussion of the PTF Certification Protocol and Guidelines of the Institute. Further, the concerns and needs of Textile Producers and Fabric Suppliers were put to the table giving an avenue to propose possible actions to be taken.

During the dialogue, the discussion matters included streamlining government procurement processes, addressing obstacles hindering the effective implementation of the Philippine Tropical Fabrics Law, and ensuring long-term sustainability through collaborative efforts among Textile stakeholders. These discussions underscored a collective commitment to fostering a resilient and vibrant textile industry in the Philippines through strategic reforms and ongoing cooperation. 

This dialogue is part of the celebration of the Philippine Tropical Fabrics Month. The culminating activity will be at the 1st National Textile Convention on 30-31 January 2024.
