The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) Testing Laboratories has successfully been recommended for sustained accreditation under PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017. This follows a Laboratory Management System (LMS) Surveillance Audit and Special Assessment conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry - Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) from November 13 to 15, 2024. The accreditation covers the fields of chemical and mechanical testing.
Notably, two additional testing personnel have been approved as signatories for chemical testing, bringing the total to five (5) for chemical testing and three (3) for physical testing. The Institute also celebrated a major milestone with its recommendation for accreditation in biological testing, underscoring the competence of its Microbiological Testing Laboratory. The microbiologists have been approved by PAB as signatories for five (5) test methods in this field.
With the addition of 12 new test methods, the Institute’s total accredited test methods now stand at 123. The audit, conducted by PAB technical experts, included a thorough review of documents, interviews, and witnessing assessments.
Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 demonstrates the technical competence, reliability, and impartiality of testing laboratories. This achievement reinforces DOST-PTRI's dedication to delivering high-quality testing services and fostering a culture of excellence in the Philippines.
