TExchange Launches with Spotlight on SEDA Pilipinas

The TELA Exchange (TExchange) officially kicked off as a platform for knowledge exchange among employees of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI). Held every Friday, TExchange creates space for conversations on emerging topics in the textile innovation ecosystem.

For its first session, Ms. Cheryl Lopez, Supervising Science Research Specialist and head of the PTRI Technology Center in Misamis Oriental, introduced the SEDA Pilipinas project. The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s silk industry by making silk a sustainable resource and improving local production through science and innovation. Her presentation also emphasized the project's work in supporting silk farmers and improving techniques in sericulture.

Hosted at the TELA Gallery, TexChange brings PTRI employees together to share insights, explore research, and keep pace with the evolving textile landscape. The initiative also aligns with PTRI’s Knowledge Management (KM) system by capturing and sharing institutional knowledge, fostering continuous learning, and strengthening collaboration across teams. By systematizing the exchange of ideas, TExchange contributes to building a more innovative and knowledge-driven organization.
