DOST-PTRI HOLDS KAWAYARN PRESS CONFERENCE FOR PHILIPPINE BAMBOO MONTH

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) held a press conference as part of the opening of KAWAYAN: The Bamboo Textiles PH Exhibition, highlighting the significance of bamboo as a sustainable material in the textile industry. The event was led by Dr. Julius L. Leaño, Jr., Director IV of the DOST-PTRI, along with Ms. Catherine Diquit-Jennerman, owner of Likhang Maragondon, her husband and popular content creator Mr. Kyle Douglas "Kulas" Jennerman of Becoming Filipino, and Ms. Doreen Odvina, founder of Shoepatos.

This event showcases the versatility and innovation behind bamboo textiles, a sustainable alternative making waves in the global fashion and textile industry.

Marin, Professor VI, visited the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI). This visit was part of their ongoing collaboration on the project, "Quality Assessment of Bamboo Fibers from Two Economically Important Bamboo Species for Textile Applications."
