In support of inclusivity and the unique abilities of every individual, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) introduces the Pedal-less and Hand-Operated Handloom Weaving Machine, also known as the Theraloom V2. This innovative 25-inch loom is thoughtfully designed for differently abled individuals and the elderly, replacing traditional foot pedals with a hand lever for easier operation. Its adaptable structure accommodates standard wheelchairs, ensuring a comfortable and accessible weaving experience for all users.

DOST-PTRI Collaborates with Bukidnon Seri-Farmers to Revitalize Philippine Silk
The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) is spearheading the revitalization of silk cocoon production in Bukidnon. This move involves six new sericulture farmers from Quezon, Kalilangan, and Talakag who have partnered with DOST-PTRI through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). This collaboration aims to bring back the region as the leading in the Philippine silk industry.
