DOST-PTRI ENHANCES PROCUREMENT PRACTICES THROUGH ON-SITE TRAINING SESSION

With the aim of enhancing the transparency, efficiency, and compliance of the Institute's procurement practices, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) conducted a three-day On-site Training Session on Republic Act No. 9184 (Government Procurement Reform Act) and its Revised IRR from May 15-17, 2024, at the Tela Gallery.
On the first day, Atty. Armi Cecilia L. Dela Cruz, Chief of BAC Secretariat Division of the Department of Tourism, served as a resource person on "Standard Bidding Procedures and Procurement Planning and Budget Linkage, including Early Procurement Activities."
On the second day of the training, focusing on "Government Procurement 101 and Alternative Methods of Procurement," Atty. Zenaida B. Bautista-Biteng, Director III of the Procurement Management Service of the Department of Transportation, served as the resource speaker.
Meanwhile, Engr. Josue O. Mirabite, Retired Division Chief of the Procurement Management Division of the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, discussed "Preparation of Technical Specifications, Scope of Work, and Terms of Reference, Preparation of Cost Estimates, and Community Participation" on the last day of the training.
The sharing of knowledge by the esteemed speakers further fortified their understanding of legal frameworks and best practices in government procurement. The DOST-PTRI remains committed to upholding transparency and efficiency in its operations, ensuring that public funds are utilized judiciously and effectively to advance the Institute's mission and serve the Filipino people.
