In an effort to support and promote the Philippine textile and fashion industries, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) held an exploratory meeting with the organizers of BYS Fashion Week on April 8, 2025.

Both groups shared the goal of promoting Filipino craft by using local and eco-friendly fabrics, and the meeting served as a starting point for a possible partnership focused on featuring Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF), handloom woven textiles, and connecting with the public through exhibits and hands-on workshops.

This possible collaboration shows promise in bringing together science, creativity, and tradition and bring greater visibility to Philippine textiles, while encouraging the next generation of designers to embrace sustainable and culturally rooted design.
