In line with the celebration of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Eastern Visayas, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) participated through an exhibition highlighting its textile innovation at the People's Center and Library, Tacloban City, Leyte, from June 25-27, 2024.
DOST-PTRI showcased its developed technologies for sustainable textiles to reduce microplastic pollution from textiles, which is crucial for protecting marine environments. This aligns with this year's RSTW VIII theme, “Bluer and Smarter Eastern Visayas.”
The exhibit also featured Natural Textile Fiber (NTF) technologies and R&D outputs from DOST-PTRI programs such as Bamboo Textiles PH, Natural Dyes, SEDA Pilipinas (Silk), and Shoes and Footwear Accessories from the R&D on Textile-based Omnibus Solutions for the Philippine Shoe Industry Program (SAFATOS).
The exhibit is open to the public until tomorrow, June 27, 2024, at the People's Center and Library. Don't miss this opportunity to witness innovative textile creations firsthand!
