DOST-PTRI representative Engr. Romeo Cometa Jr., provided insights into the Geotextile Testing Center, emphasizing its significance as the Philippines' first and only facility dedicated to testing geotextiles. Geotextiles, essential materials used in various infrastructure projects such as buildings, roads, and bridges, undergo rigorous testing to ensure compliance with international standards. This process plays a critical role in safeguarding public safety and instilling confidence in both government-funded and private construction ventures.

The initiative underscores DOST-PTRI's commitment to enhancing disaster preparedness and resilience across the country, leveraging its expertise in textile research and innovation. By ensuring that geotextile materials meet stringent quality benchmarks, the institute aims to bolster the durability and reliability of infrastructure, particularly in disaster-prone areas where these materials can mitigate the impact of natural calamities.

The Panagsagana: Technology Forum serves as a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge and strategies aimed at bolstering disaster response capabilities. It brings together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore innovative solutions that mitigate the impact of natural calamities on communities.
