Two batches of DOST Provincial Science and Technology Directors (PSTDs) and Assistant Regional Directors (ARDs) visited the institute for orientation and familiarization of its programs and facilities. This was made possible through the DOST project "Enhancement of Technical Capabilities of DOST PSTDs/ARDs through Experiential Learning Program at DOST RDIs".
PTRI Director Carlos C. Tomboc and the TTPS staff members welcomed the visitors and oriented them about PTRI through the conduct of lectures, discussion and open forum. This was followed by a tour of the Technical Services Division's (TSD) Pilot Plant and technology demonstration involving the three PTRI technologies such as handloom weaving, and synthetic and natural dyeing. The visitors were also briefed on sericulture, specifically on cocoon reeling technology. Discussion on technology transfer concerns was likewise tackled.
Information, education and communication (IEC) materials such as flyerson PTRI technologies, Annual Reports, Samay Bulletins, and the book on Katutubong Kulay were provided to each of the PASTDS/ARDs.
