The Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) was a guest at DZRJ-AM on May 27 to talk about geotextile testing services offered by the Institute. In the radio program “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” hosted by Jun Obrero and Mary Jane Olvina-Balaguer, Engr. May S. Rico, PTRI’s Technical Services Division Chief, discussed the background of PTRI’s testing services and the need of various manufacturers and suppliers for geotextile testing. Geotextiles or geotextile fabrics in woven or non-woven forms are used in the foundations of soils, rock, or earth as an integral part of a manufactured project, structure, or system.
She then shared the commencement of the Institute’s geotextile services to the public and how PTRI became a partner of different groups and agencies notably the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in conducting tests for geotextiles and geosynthetics.
The radio interview is part of the Institute’s promotional activities for the upcoming 2015 National Science and Technology Week to be held at SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia on July 24-28.
