DOST-PTRI’S TRIPLE AWARDS AT IEIG 2024 PUTS PHILIPPINES IN INTERNATIONAL SPOTLIGHT

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) received three (3) awards at the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (IEIG) 2024, held in Geneva, Switzerland, where around 1000 new inventions and products were showcased, with 800 exhibitors from 40 countries in attendance.

Both DOST-PTRI's Eco-friendly Bamboo Textiles and High-blend Natural Textile Fiber/Lyocell Yarns were awarded the Bronze Award under the Clothing, Textiles, Machines and Accessories category, received by the institute's representatives Dr. Julius L. Leaño, Jr., Director IV, and Ms. Evangeline Flor P. Manalang, Supervising Science Research Specialist. 

Additionally, the High-blend Natural Textile Fiber/Lyocell Yarns also received a Special Award from King Khalid University, a public university located in Abha, Saudi Arabia. 

These awards highlight the Philippines' growing presence in the global innovation landscape and underscore the Institute's commitment to advancing sustainable and eco-friendly textile technologies. With these achievements, DOST-PTRI continues to lead the way for the country's textile industry, fostering progress and innovation on an international scale. 

In addition to DOST-PTRI's Bronze Awards, the Philippine delegation received a total of four (4) silver and five (5) bronze awards, serving as a testament to the unwavering dedication of Filipino inventors, innovators, and technology transfer officers in shaping a brighter future
