DOST-PTRI FEATURES BAMBOO TEXTILE INNOVATION AT PANGASINAN STATE UNIVERSITY'S INTERNATIONALIZATION WEEK 2024

In celebration of Philippine Bamboo Month this September 2024, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) participated in Pangasinan State University’s Internationalization Week 2024. Held on September 10, 2024, the event’s theme, “Inclusivity in Diversity: Creating a Sustainable International Community Through Globalization,” centered on showcasing the rich cultures and traditions within the university and province to the global community.
DOST-PTRI’s contribution to the Cultural Expo included a dynamic display of bamboo textile technology. The exhibit featured an array of bamboo fabrics and products, developed in collaboration with various partner brands and designers. This presentation highlighted bamboo’s versatility and its potential as a sustainable resource in the textile industry.
Furthermore, Engr. Karl Marx Lennin A. Florante, Science Research Specialist II at DOST-PTRI, delivered an insightful presentation on Bamboo Textile Fiber Technology. He discussed its crucial role in promoting sustainability, preserving cultural heritage, and enhancing local industries.
