In a significant step forward towards the development of adaptable and sustainable textile solutions, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was crafted between the the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) and the Municipality of Taytay, Rizal, witnessed by the DOST CALABARZON and DOST Rizal on October 11, 2024. This landmark agreement aims to strengthen the town's textile industry by addressing environmental challenges while enhancing economic growth.

The Presidential Management Staff (PMS) recently visited the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) to explore its ongoing textile research and development projects. During the visit, the delegation expressed a keen interest in the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) initiative, which aims to enhance the capabilities of the country's uniformed personnel through the use of locally sourced textiles. This project not only bolsters national defense efforts but also supports the growth of the Philippine textile industry by promoting indigenous materials and innovation.
