TAGUIG CITY – Five scientific papers of DOST-PTRI researchers submitted as posters were presented in the Rapid Fire Competition which was held today, August 12, 2020, as part of this year’s celebration of the 40th Philippine – American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE) Anniversary & 2020 APAMS (Annual Scientific Meeting) Philippines.

DOST-PTRI Donates 24,000 REwear Face Masks to BJMP through OCD-NDRRMC

BICUTAN, TAGUIG CITY – The DOST-PTRI delivered 24,000 pieces of the DOST - funded REwear Face Masks Made Smart to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) through the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD-NDRRMC). This is in line with the objective of a quick response project in support of the commitment to the ‘Bayanihan to Heal as One Act’ to beat the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines.

DOST-PTRI Researches were Presented in the NAST Scientific Poster Session of the 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting

TAGUIG CITY – Five notable scientific papers from the Philippine Textile Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PTRI) were presented in the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Scientific Poster Session, as part of this year’s 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting.
The research studies presented fell under the Biological Sciences, and the Engineering Science and Technology Divisions, and were among the 150 researches submitted. These are detailed in the Table below.

DOST – PTRI’s REwear Face Mask Adheres to WHO Guidelines
The DOST - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST – PTRI) developed the REwear (Re-useable, Washable, Re-wearable) Face Masks brand of cloth masks as a quick response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now evident that the scientific perspective applied to the development of the REwear Face Mask has good basis as it is found to conform to the recommendations recently made by the World Health Organization (WHO).
