The facility tour offered the students a unique, firsthand look at the latest advancements in the country’s textile industry, highlighting sustainable innovations and state-of-the-art processes.

DOST-PTRI Leads Basic Handloom Weaving Training Initiative in Talisay City

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in collaboration with the office of former Congressman Jose Francisco “Kiko” Bantug Benitez, now the 15th Director General of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), recently conducted a Basic Handloom Weaving training program for 17 constituents from various barangays in Talisay City. The initiative aims to broaden the community's knowledge in textile arts and provide additional income opportunities through handloom weaving.

DOST-PTRI Boosts Cagayan's Textile Industry Through NatDye Training Workshop

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in collaboration with the Provincial Science and Technology Office-Cagayan and the Local Government Unit of Claveria, conducted a training workshop focused on Natural Dye Extraction and Synthetic Dyeing Techniques for Cellulosic Fibers. This training held at Claveria, Cagayan from October 15-17, 2024, aimed to enhance the skills of local farmers and handicraft weavers, enabling them to improve the quality and marketability of their abaca fiber products.

DOST-PTRI Joins Guinness World Record Attempt for Most People Planting Bamboo Simultaneously

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) participated in a massive bamboo planting event on October 17, 2024, as part of the “KAWAYANIHAN: A Circular Economy Movement.” Organized by DOST Region 10, the initiative aims to set a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the "Most People Planting Bamboo Simultaneously" across multiple venues in Mindanao, while also raising awareness on bamboo’s role in promoting circular economy, climate resilience, and sustainability.
