The visit, as part of the Institute's Textile Academy, offered students an opportunity to witness strides in sustainable and innovative textile production, providing insight into an industry deeply rooted in science, technology, and innovation.

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) joined other Philippine delegates to the 9th ASEAN Traditional Textile Symposium (ATTS 9) held from November 4-6, 2024, at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel, Vientiane, Laos. Organized by the Lao Handicraft Association (LHA), this symposium celebrated the cultural heritage and traditional textile practices of the ASEAN region.

DOST-PTRI Hands Over Silk Handloom Machines to Empower Villanueva Women

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, Department of Tourism Region 10, and STEAG State Power Inc. (SPI), has initiated a livelihood program for the women of the Villanueva Kini General Services Multi-Purpose Cooperative (VKMPC). As part of SPI’s Livelihood and Enterprise Development Program, two sets of silk hand-loom weaving machines were formally turned over to VKMPC, aiming to establish a thriving silk industry in Villanueva.

DOST-PTRI Conducts Virtual Tour for PNP Research and Development Course Participants

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) conducted a virtual tour today as part of the Philippine National Police - Directorate for Research and Development’s (PNP-DRD) 20-day online Research and Development Course (RDC). The course, attended by 50 PNP personnel, is aimed at developing essential skills and knowledge in research and development to meet the DRD’s staffing requirements and introduce best practices from other PNP directorates.
