This includes supporting local government units in applying research for the conservation of materials and heritage structures, conducting inventories of natural dye sources, and documenting traditional textiles, apparel materials, designs, techniques, processes, and weaving machinery. The law also highlights the importance of research and development in driving innovation within the Philippine textile industry.

In support of inclusivity and the unique abilities of every individual, the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) introduces the Pedal-less and Hand-Operated Handloom Weaving Machine, also known as the Theraloom V2. This innovative 25-inch loom is thoughtfully designed for differently abled individuals and the elderly, replacing traditional foot pedals with a hand lever for easier operation. Its adaptable structure accommodates standard wheelchairs, ensuring a comfortable and accessible weaving experience for all users.
