The opening ceremony was graced by the DOST Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang, DOST Undersecretary for Special Concerns Dr. Teodoro Gatchalian, DILG Undersecretary for Local Government Marlo Iringan, DOST-PHIVOLCS Director Dr. Teresito C. Bacolcol, DOST-PAGASA Administrator Dr. Nathaniel Servando, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, and Lapu-Lapu City Councilor Marciano Alforque, Jr. on 24 July 2024.

The event has welcomed more than 380 participants from Local Government Units (LGUs), Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils, national and regional government agencies, academe, non-governmental organizations, and private sectors.

As part of the DRRM Technology Exhibits, DOST-PTRI highlighted its innovations such as the Geotextile Testing for materials used for infrastructure, buildings, roadworks, and bridges and the Battle Dress Uniform made from bamboo fabric sourced from its partner farmers in La Union.

Organized by Department of Science and Technology VII, DOST Cebu PSTO, and Technology Application and Promotion Institute, this three-day event aims to showcase the latest technologies in disaster and climate resilience through exhibitions and informative sessions.

Given the recent natural hazards like typhoons and landslides, addressing this issue is both timely and crucial. The government and various stakeholders must prioritize bridging gaps by leveraging resources and capabilities to foster innovative solutions.

The event is open to the public until 26 July 2024, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
See you there!
