DOST-PTRI Showcases Bamboo Textile Technology at Tarlac’s 1st TarlaKauayan Festival

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) participated in the inaugural TarlaKauayan Festival, held on September 19-20, 2024, at the Tarlac Agricultural University Amphitheater in Camiling, Tarlac. The event, with the theme “The Bamboo: Rooting Its Way to a More Sustainable Tarlac Province,” highlighted the province’s efforts toward sustainability, with bamboo as the focal point.

The festival showcased DOST-PTRI’s innovative bamboo textile technology through an exhibit featuring bamboo fabrics and products developed in collaboration with various partner brands and designers. These collaborations emphasized the versatility of bamboo, demonstrating its applicability in creating eco-friendly textiles.

The Institute also presented the Bamboo Textile Fiber Technology highlighting the technology’s significance in promoting sustainability, enhancing craftsmanship, and supporting local industries underscoring bamboo’s potential as a sustainable resource for the textile industry.
