In celebration of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Cagayan Valley, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) hosted a Textile Technology Demo Workshop on Dyeing and Weaving at SM City Tuguegarao, Cagayan on September 26, 2024. The event provided participants with practical skills and insights into traditional and modern textile practices.

The workshop began with an introduction to the activities and objectives, followed by an in-depth discussion on textile dyeing and coloring techniques. Participants learned about different materials used in dyeing and were introduced to processes like natural dyeing and tie-dye, focusing on sustainable textile methods.

Later in the day, the focus shifted to weaving, where attendees observed demonstrations of handloom weaving and modern tapestry techniques. Using both traditional and modern tools such as handlooms and power looms, participants were given a comprehensive look into the craft of weaving.

In addition to demonstrations, participants were actively involved in the process, experimenting with dyeing and weaving under expert guidance. The workshop concluded with an open forum, allowing attendees to ask questions and share their experiences.
