The exhibit showcased Philippine textile innovations featuring Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) Uniforms developed in collaboration with selected government institutions, as well as technological developments in Bamboo-based Textiles, Pineapple-based Textiles, and Natural Dyes.

Also featured in this exhibit are DOST-PTRI's new programs. Last month, the Institute launched DOST-PTRI’s FRONTIER or Fostering the Revitalization of Nascent Textile Innovation Ecosystems in the Region, funded through the 2024 GAA, where it sustains the programs in locating Natural Textile Fiber and Bamboo Textile Fiber Innovation Hubs, Natural Dye Hubs, Regional Handloom Weaving Innovation Centers including Silk Cocoon Production all over the country.

The other two include CREATEEVS (Creativity and Equity through Accelerated Textile Technology Engagement and Entrepreneurship for the Vulnerable Sectors), tailoring textile technologies for the marginalized sectors including youth, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, people deprived of liberty, urban poor, indigenous people, among others. TEXTILE Academy integrates all the textile capacity-building training and offerings of the Institute. CREATEEVS and TEXTILE Academy hope to be also funded in 2025.

DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr. emphasized that the additional resources gained by DOST-PTRI through the 2024 GAA will be instrumental in providing solutions and opening opportunities as the Institute strives to advance STI throughout the nation and assured that these funds will be utilized efficiently to drive progress and positive change for the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman expressed that Philippine textiles are truly close to her heart as it is her mission to promote and foster innovation in the textile industry while contributing to the country's overall economic growth.
