A celebrated fashion designer, educator, and cultural advocate, Englis is also the current President of the Davao Fashion and Design Council. In collaboration with DOST-PTRI, he unveiled the "A.Ikat" collection, which celebrates the ikat weaving traditions of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and Moros in Mindanao. The collection prominently features the artistry of the T’bolis from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, and the Maguindanaons from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The "A.Ikat" capsule collection highlights the transformative use of Philippine cotton yarns developed by DOST-PTRI, paired with Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTFs) incorporating cotton and abaca. These contemporary interpretations of ikat textiles exemplify the harmonious blending of heritage and innovation. Each piece features unique material textures and incorporates nickel hardware, symbolizing the balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern design elements.

By reimagining traditional textiles into luxe resort wear, the collection aligns with the Philippines' goal to redefine its identity in global fashion. The designs emphasize cultural regeneration, sustainability, and textile innovation, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage through a modern lens.

This collaboration between DOST-PTRI and Englis underscores the Institute's commitment to elevating Philippine textiles while supporting local artisans and weavers. By championing sustainable design practices, the initiative aims to place the Philippines at the forefront of cultural and textile innovation.

WITS 2024 continues to be a significant platform for promoting ikat weaving traditions, fostering cultural exchange, and advancing the appreciation of indigenous textiles worldwide.
