DOST-PTRI Engages Museo Pambata for Textile Advocacy
The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) engaged Museo Pambata President Wilma Santos-Huang in a strategic discussion to explore collaborative efforts in advancing textile advocacy and education.

The visit included a meeting and a guided tour of DOST-PTRI’s facilities, where both parties shared insights on promoting Philippine textiles through interactive and youth-focused platforms.
One of the key initiatives explored is a potential collaboration for the KatHABI exhibition, tentatively set for October 2025 at Museo Pambata. The exhibition aims to showcase handloom woven fabrics made by Master Weavers and their young protégés or “Kid Weavers.” The inclusion of the Theraloom as an interactive installation is also being considered to encourage hands-on learning about weaving traditions.
Future linkages were also discussed, including possible partnerships under the Textile Academy and expanded textile advocacy efforts. These initiatives aim to engage children, educators, and families in discovering the cultural and scientific value of Philippine textiles.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to nurturing heritage, creativity, and learning through meaningful, community-driven experiences.
