The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) supports the DOST's Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH Program) by welcoming returned Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) as visitors to introduce them to the programs, technologies, and services offered by DOST-PTRI for technology-based business opportunities.

Returned OFW participants have shown interest in the manufacturing of handloom weaving machines, woven fabric production, and natural dyeing, as well as the assistance provided by DOST-PTRI, including equipment, materials, and training.

The DOST - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR)'s iFWD PH Program aims to empower OFWs to leverage their skills and savings into sustainable livelihoods that contribute to nation-building.

The said facility tour is still integral to the Institute's Textile Academy, which serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and seeks to consolidate efforts in education, skills development, and capability building.

Furthermore, this event is part of the second day of the DOSTkubre: Discovering DOST's Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI-based) Solutions Guided Tour and Open House activity where DOST-PTRI is among the Research and Development Institutions (RDIs) visited by participants.
