DOST-PTRI Invites Textile Key players and Enthusiasts to Join in the National Science and Technology Week’s (NSTW) Online Events
By: DOST-PTRI Technology Transfer, Information and Promotions Staff
This year's annual scientific showcase and gathering known as the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) goes online. The first-ever virtual NSTW carries the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Sandigan ng Kalusugan, Kabuhayan, Kaayusan, at Kinabukasan” . The 4 Ks represent the 4 thematic areas which the DOST services, products, and initiatives that are showcased, will address.
The Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) believes that the textile industry is a key engine for growth and employment in the country amidst the pandemic, and in post-pandemic times as it creates opportunities for in-demand textile products for face masks, PPEs, and filtration materials. Thus, DOST – PTRI will highlight technologies and initiatives that will respond to the need for information and assistance that textile MSMEs, academe, private sectors, and the general public require to adapt to the “now normal” through the conduct of webinars and a virtual exhibition.
These DOST-PTRI-developed technologies will include the REwear Face Masks, Smart Textiles that are water-repellent, mosquito-repellent, antimicrobial, and infused with self-cleaning finishing technologies, Nonwoven materials for filters and disinfecting mats, contactless textile product development, and bamboo textile innovation hubs are among the featured technologies in the virtual exhibition.
The Institute remains committed to deliver on its mandates in providing full support to the textile and allied industries with the most relevant topics at this time with the offer of the following webinars:
