April 25 marked the kickoff of the DOST-PTRI Piña Textile Innovation Exposition in Kalibo, Aklan, as part of the 25th Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival celebrations. Running from April 25-28, 2024, the exposition showcases advancements in pineapple fiber textiles. 

The event highlights the Piña Textile Technologies Exhibit and six engaging sessions for the Innovation Exposition, covering topics like Piña-Silk Weaving, Piña Quality Textile Testing, Silkscreen Finishing using Natural Dyes, Colorimetry, Digital Textile Pattern, and Covert Security for Textiles. 

Additionally, the exposition was visited by notable figures such as Sen. Emmanuel Joel Jose Villanueva, Senate Majority Leader, Hon. Carlito Marquez, Congressman of 1st District of Aklan, Hon. Jose Miguel M. Miraflores, Mayor of Municipality of Ibajay, Aklan Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO), and weavers from Aklan.
