DOST-PTRI PRESENTS TEXTILE MATERIAL INNOVATIONS IN MEETING WITH MATERIAL CONNEXION

In an effort to elevate the Philippines' position in the global textile industry, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) recently held a meeting with Material ConneXion, a renowned global materials consultancy firm that specializes in innovative material solutions.

During the meeting, the DOST-PTRI Team presented its textile material innovations, emphasizing the use of natural fibers such as abaca, banana, pineapple, bamboo, and silk. These sustainable materials are being developed for a wide range of applications, including wearable textiles, home textiles, filters, building materials, biomedical products, and various industrial uses. 

Material ConneXion, represented by Vice President for Library and Materials Research Andrew Dent and Sales Senior Director Michael Isserlis, outlined their services which include subscription access to their extensive material database, expert consultancy, and trend forecasting. These services are designed to support the technical needs of their clients, fostering innovation and development across different sectors. 

Furthermore, the DOST-PTRI's primary goal in this engagement is to introduce their sustainable material innovations to a global audience, highlighting the potential for further development and commercialization. This initiative aims to support the Philippine textile and allied industries by opening up new opportunities for collaboration and market expansion.
