The Presidential Management Staff (PMS) recently visited the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) to explore its ongoing textile research and development projects. During the visit, the delegation expressed a keen interest in the Battle Dress Uniform (BDU) initiative, which aims to enhance the capabilities of the country's uniformed personnel through the use of locally sourced textiles. This project not only bolsters national defense efforts but also supports the growth of the Philippine textile industry by promoting indigenous materials and innovation.

The delegation, composed of Assistant Secretary Zheliah Ritz C. Gatchalian, Director II Joanna Micah C. Eufemio, and Deputy Chief Leo Angelo B. Quimson from the PMS Management Information Systems Service, along with DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr., highlighted the BDU project’s significant potential. They emphasized its capacity to strengthen both national defense and the local economy through advancements in textile technology and the use of homegrown resources.

The PMS operates under the Office of the President and plays a crucial role in assisting the executive branch in policy formulation, project management, and coordination across government agencies. Their involvement in such projects reflects their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote national development and economic growth.
