DOST-PTRI Hosts 23rd Textile R&D Colloquium Featuring MMSU OJT Students

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) recently held the 23rd Textile Research and Development (R&D) Colloquium on October 16, 2024, providing a platform for On-the-Job Training (OJT) students from Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in the Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) major in Garments, Fashion and Design (GFD) program to present their Curriculum Design output, course-related research, and learning.
The event highlighted the students’ progress in the textile education field, with participants sharing insights from their coursework and engaging in discussions with professors and peers. Faculty members offered feedback on the presentations, emphasizing practical applications in the textile industry and the relevance of academic work to real-world scenarios.
A Best Presenter Award was also given, recognizing a student for their presentation skills and innovative approach for their Curriculum Design. This award aimed to encourage participants to strive for higher standards in their work.
This colloquium aimed to bridge academic learning and industry application, highlighting the critical role of research in driving sustainable and technological advancements in the local textile sector.
Furthermore, this is part of DOST-PTRI’s On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program under the Textile Academy, one of the academic support programs of the Institute. This program aims to train and immerse the students in the realm of textile research and product development field and work. The program is open to all students, secondary and tertiary students, enrolled in their internship class.
