Ananas Anam Group Explores DOST-PTRI Textile Innovations and Testing Services

Ananas Anam, an innovative company that repurposes pineapple leaves into sustainable textiles, visited the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) on November 18, 2024. The visit aimed to explore the Institute's cutting-edge technologies and potential collaborative efforts to maximize the application of natural fibers in the textile industry.
Discussions centered on opportunities to enhance Ananas Anam's existing products while exploring the use of other indigenous natural fibers. This aligns with the growing global demand for sustainable and eco-friendly materials shaped by shifting market and consumer preferences. DOST-PTRI presented its advanced testing and Research and Development (R&D) capabilities, which ensure that textiles meet high-quality standards and sustainability requirements.
The Institute also emphasized its proactive approach in responding to stakeholder inquiries, providing technical expertise to support material innovation. These competencies are instrumental in addressing the needs of manufacturers and end-users, driving progress in the textile sector.
By combining the expertise of DOST-PTRI and Ananas Anam Group, the collaboration aims to develop premium, sustainable textile solutions and reinforce the Philippines’ leadership in natural fiber-based textiles.
