DOST Provides Therapeutic Handlooms to the Differently-abled and Elderly

QUEZON CITY, Metro Manila — Students with special needs and elderly members of Guanella Center, Inc., a religious organization based in this city, received 10 units of modified four-harness therapeutic handlooms (thera looms) from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) during a ceremonial turnover and launching activity attended by no less than DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña, DOST - National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) Regional Director Jose B. Meet and Greet with the Weavers and Designers
TAGUIG CITY, Metro Manila – Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) and Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) conducted the first engagement of the weavers and the designers last February 28, 2018. This concluded the successful activities for the first working calendar of PTRI’s involvement with GREAT Women Project 2, funded by the Global Affairs Canada set to end on 2020.
The GREAT Women Project 2, also termed Supporting Women’s Economic Empowerment in the Philippines, is recognized as a gender platform that focuses on improving the competitiveness and sustainability of women’s enterprises. It gives the WME’s an avenue not only to produce quality, and environmentally sustainable products but also to become market-ready locally and globally.

TAGUIG CITY – Collaborating for the common goal of commercializing natural dye production for textile application, the Natural Craft Connection Enterprise (NCCE) recently inked a Memorandum of Agreement to work in partnership with the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) for the establishment of the NatDyes production and dyeing facility in Bauan, Batangas.
