In a vibrant celebration of Cordillera's rich handloom weaving tradition, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology - Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST - CAR) organized the 3rd Philippine Handloom Weaving Conference (PHWC) - Cordillera Regional Weaver's Forum. The event was held at Paragon Hotel and Suites, Baguio City on July 17, 2024, as part of the 37th Cordillera Month Celebration. 

The forum brought together weavers, artisans, researchers, and enthusiasts from across the region to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and showcase the exquisite craftsmanship of Cordillera handwoven textiles. This gathering served as a platform to celebrate and promote the region's weaving heritage while addressing the challenges and opportunities within the industry.

Key discussions at the forum centered around various aspects of the handloom weaving ecosystem, including sustainability, product and weaving innovations, pricing and fair trade, business standards, and the indigenous textiles of the Cordillera weaving communities. These topics aimed to foster a deeper understanding of the industry and empower weavers with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the evolving textile landscape. 

The 3rd PHWC - Regional Weaver's Forum highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the unique cultural heritage of Cordillera weaving, emphasizing the role of innovation and sustainability in ensuring its continued relevance and success in the modern market. As participants engaged in meaningful exchanges, the event reinforced the value of collaboration and community in driving the growth and development of the region's textile industry.
