KATHABI TEXTILE INNOVATION FASHION SHOW GOES TO RSTW BICOL

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in partnership with DOST-Bicol, DOST V- Provincial S&T Office -Catanduanes, and Catanduanes State University (CatSU), recently conducted a KatHABI Textile Innovation Fashion Show as part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) and Abacanobasyon 2.0 in the Bicol Region on May 22, 2024.
One of the highlights of the fashion show was the streetwear collection made by the CatSU Garments, Fashion, and Design students, featuring innovative designs using polyabaca and polypiña abaca developed by DOST-PTRI.

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) hosted the Textile Innovation Dialogue in Virac, Catanduanes, as part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) Bicol and Abacanobasyon 2.0 on May 22, 2024.
This dialogue engages abaca textile stakeholders in Region V to explore partnerships, share best practices, identify collaboration opportunities, and encourage community participation to innovate the industry.

DOST-PTRI GOES TO 2024 RSTW BICOL

As part of the Opening Day of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) and Abacanobasyon 2.0 in Bicol Region, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) participated by mounting the Abaca Textile Innovation Exhibition. The exhibition was located at the Catanduanes State University Gymnasium, Virac, Catanduanes on May 22, 2024.
With the theme “Siyensya, Teknolohiya, at Inobasyon: Kabalikat sa Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Kinabukasan," RSTW Bicol showcased Bicolandia’s Abaca innovations.

DOST-PTRI ENHANCES PROCUREMENT PRACTICES THROUGH ON-SITE TRAINING SESSION

With the aim of enhancing the transparency, efficiency, and compliance of the Institute's procurement practices, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) conducted a three-day On-site Training Session on Republic Act No. 9184 (Government Procurement Reform Act) and its Revised IRR from May 15-17, 2024, at the Tela Gallery.
On the first day, Atty. Armi Cecilia L. Dela Cruz, Chief of BAC Secretariat Division of the Department of Tourism, served as a resource person on "Standard Bidding Procedures and Procurement Planning and Budget Linkage, including Early Procurement Activities."

After a productive community engagement in the Province of Aklan, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) hosted the 2024 MECO-TECO Joint Research Program Writeshop Event at the TELA Gallery on May 13, 2024.
The writeshop was attended and made possible through the support of the Institute's partners from the Research Center for Applied Sciences (RCAS) at Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and the Institute of Chemistry at the University of the Philippines (UP) - Diliman.
