19 Agusanons Complete Bamboo Textile Fiber Extraction Training Led by DOST-PTRI in Agusan del Norte

19 trainees participated in a two-day Bamboo Textile Fiber Extraction Training conducted by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) on April 10–11, 2025, at the Kapunungan sa mga Mag-uuma sa Simbalan, Inc. (KAMASI) in Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

The training covered the processing of bamboo poles into raw bamboo textile fibers, hands-on sessions on operating the bamboo slatting machine, bamboo extraction machine, chemical solution preparation and handling, and equipment maintenance.

KAMASI is a farmers' organization dedicated to supporting local agricultural communities in the region—as the partner organization in the establishment of the hub, envisioned for sustainable livelihood and rural development.

This training is in line with DOST-Caraga elevating its dedication in adopting the Bamboo Textile Technology, following the establishment of BTFIH-Agusan Del Norte, through the initiatives of PSTO-Agusan Del Norte.

This collaboration is a significant step in localizing bamboo textile fiber technology and empowering communities through science and innovation in the CARAGA Region.
