As part of the 2024 Asian Defense and Security (ADAS) Exhibition, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) launched two groundbreaking partnerships, solidifying their commitment to a cross-national collaboration in textile research and development held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on September 26, 2024.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DOST-PTRI and PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex), duly represented by its Director Mr. Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto marks the Institute’s efforts for ASEAN scientific cooperation for the innovation of Philippine natural textile fibers, textile processing, and machinery. SriTex is an Indonesia-based vertically integrated manufacturing company producing yarns, dyed and printed fabrics, and garments for uniforms and fashion. This partnership also aims to boost international market opportunities, promote the exchange of technical and sustainable practices, and boost the national economic growth of both countries.

Following this, the DOST-PTRI inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with CKDiaz Worldwide Enterprise led by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ms. Charmagne Kaye C. Diaz. CKDiaz is a Filipino-owned garment manufacturer engaged in the production, trade, marketing, and sale of military, police, and civilian uniforms. This partnership will undertake product development cooperation for various uniform applications including civilian, office, and human security.

These two strategic partnerships underscore DOST-PTRI's dedication to elevating the Philippine textile sector, fostering excellence, and supporting innovative solutions not just limited to civilian applications but also military and defense textiles for human security.
