On October 17, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) hosted the 2nd National General Assembly, gathering 38 educational institutions across the country, along with two international schools. The event, held via Zoom, brought together key representatives from educational institutions specializing in textiles, clothing, fashion, chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials science and engineering. 

The Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) is spotlighting its textile technologies at the ongoing 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR). Organized by the Government of the Philippines in partnership with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the event is being held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, running from October 14 to 18, 2024. 

Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) were featured at Erlendur Iceland Fashion Week 2024, held on September 20-21 at the Whales of Iceland Museum in Reykjavik, Iceland. Among the designers showcased was Mayeth S. Codoy, a Filipina and owner of MYET, a Norwegian-based fashion brand recognized for its use of natural textile fibers and dedication to sustainability. 

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) presented its textile innovations in creations by renowned designers at the KatHABI Fashion Show, held at the Manila Jockey Club in Carmona, Cavite, on October 14, 2024. The event was part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTIW) in CALABARZON.
