In celebration of Philippine Bamboo Month, the Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) officially opened the KAWAYARN: The Bamboo Textiles PH Exhibition on September 12, 2024, at the TELA Gallery, DOST-PTRI Building, Bicutan, Taguig City. This event showcases the versatility and innovation behind bamboo textiles, a sustainable alternative making waves in the global fashion and textile industry.

On September 10, 2024, the Central Mindanao University (CMU) Bamboo Technical Team, led by Mr. Rico A. Marin, Professor VI, visited the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI). This visit was part of their ongoing collaboration on the project, "Quality Assessment of Bamboo Fibers from Two Economically Important Bamboo Species for Textile Applications."
