DOST-PTRI CONDUCTS DIALOGUE WITH WEAVERS AND ARTISANS AT LIKHA 3

In a significant move to support the local weaving and artisan communities, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) conducted a dialogue with weavers and artisans during the Likha 3: Likha Ko, Lahi Ko event at Forum 2 and 3 of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on June 10, 2024.
The Likha 3 event, which celebrates Filipino craftsmanship and heritage, gathered weavers and artisans from various regions, showcasing their unique products and skills. DOST-PTRI staff engaged directly with these artisans to identify specific needs and explore ways the institute can offer support.

In a bid to spotlight the transformative potential of Philippine textiles, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) showcased its array of programs, technologies, and services at the recent Likha 3: Likha Ko, Lahi Ko event, organized by the Office of the First Lady held at Forum 2 & 3 of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on June 10, 2024.
DOST-PTRI, represented by Ms. Evangeline Flor P. Manalang, Head of Technology Transfer, Information, and Promotion Staff, led the discussion by offering an overview of the various agency initiatives. Among the topics covered was an introduction to the institute's fiber treatment technology, which processes plant fibers into yarns and fabrics, encompassing nonwoven textiles such as shoe insoles.

KATHABI FASHION INNOVATION SHOW STAGED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN CARAGA

As part of the 2024 Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Caraga, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), staged the KatHABI Fashion Innovation Show, for the first time at the Robinsons Butuan North Atrium, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
The event showcased innovations in textiles and wearables, particularly those made from Philippine Tropical Fabrics. It featured collections from Albert Andrada Luxewear, Hiraya Lizan, Nina Inabel, Unica Hija by BAYO, AIRE, Likhang Maragondon, Edited Limited, and the Davao Fashion Design Council Foundation, Inc.

DOST-PTRI HOLDS PHILIPPINE TEXTILE INNOVATION FORUM AT 2024 RSTW CARAGA

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology Caraga (DOST Caraga), hosted the Philippine Textile Innovation Forum as part of the 2024 Caraga Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (RSTW), on June 7, 2024, at the Robinsons Butuan North Atrium, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
The forum spotlighted pioneering efforts in the field of textile innovation, focusing on the development of sustainable and locally sourced fabrics. Key topics included "Spinning Innovations for Philippine Silk Development," "Bamboo Textile Fiber Innovation Hubs," "Fostering the Revitalization of Nascent Textile Innovation Ecosystems" (FRONTIER), and Creativity and Equity through Accelerated Textile Technology Engagement and Entrepreneurship Ventures for Vulnerable Sectors (CREATTEEVs).
