Associate Scientist Dr. Rey Eliseo O. Torrejos, and Science and Technology Fellow Dr. Nathan Ray A. Alim from the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research institute (DOST-PTRI) participated in the recently concluded Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE) National Convention 2024, held at the Waterfront Hotel Cebu on September 11-14, 2024. The event was organized by the PIChE Cebu Chapter in cooperation with the Cebu Local Government, DOST Regional Office VII, and other industry sponsors, and was attended by over 1,700 delegates.

DOST-PTRI HOLDS KAWAYARN PRESS CONFERENCE FOR PHILIPPINE BAMBOO MONTH

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) held a press conference as part of the opening of KAWAYAN: The Bamboo Textiles PH Exhibition, highlighting the significance of bamboo as a sustainable material in the textile industry. The event was led by Dr. Julius L. Leaño, Jr., Director IV of the DOST-PTRI, along with Ms. Catherine Diquit-Jennerman, owner of Likhang Maragondon, her husband and popular content creator Mr. Kyle Douglas "Kulas" Jennerman of Becoming Filipino, and Ms. Doreen Odvina, founder of Shoepatos.

Held on September 10, 2024, the event’s theme, “Inclusivity in Diversity: Creating a Sustainable International Community Through Globalization,” centered on showcasing the rich cultures and traditions within the university and province to the global community.
