With a mission to enhance the visibility and appreciation of Philippine textiles in the United States, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) and The Hinabi Project have formally joined forces. The collaboration was sealed through a Memorandum of Agreement signed by DOST-PTRI Director Julius L. Leaño, Jr. and The Hinabi Project President Dr. Almira Gilles during the KatHABI Fashion Innovation Show at the Philippine Center in New York on June 27, 2024.

TEXTILE INNOVATIONS TAKE CENTER STAGE IN THE KATHABI EXHIBITION OPENING IN NEW YORK
The Philippine Center in New York became a focal point of cultural and technological convergence as it hosted the grand opening of KatHABI: A Textile Innovation Exhibition, organized by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) on June 25, 2024, at 6:00 PM EDT (New York time). This groundbreaking event showcases the rich heritage of Philippines textiles alongside cutting-edge innovations of the DOST-PTRI in one of the world's fashion capitals – New York. This event is in partnership with the office of the Philippine Consulate General in New York, and the Philippine Trade & Investment Center.
