DOST-PTRI TELA Stakeholders’ Conference Goes Virtual

The Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) of the Department of Science and Technology is pleased to enjoin everyone to its Annual TELA Stakeholders’ Conference which will be held on January 27-28, 2021. Since 2015, the TELA Conferences have been a venue to share the latest textile innovations and programs in support of the industry. It takes on a two-fold significance: the 1st is of the Institute’s founding anniversary and the 2nd, of the Philippine Tropical Fabrics Month, the celebration of which the DOST-PTRI leads.

DOST-PTRI Invites Textile Key players and Enthusiasts to Join in the National Science and Technology Week’s (NSTW) Online Events

This year's annual scientific showcase and gathering known as the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) goes online. The first-ever virtual NSTW carries the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Sandigan ng Kalusugan, Kabuhayan, Kaayusan, at Kinabukasan” . The 4 Ks represent the 4 thematic areas which the DOST services, products, and initiatives that are showcased, will address.

DOST-PTRI’s Bamboo Textile Processing: Key To Sustainable Local Bamboo Fabric

The recognition for the value of bamboo is strengthened with the declaration of September 18 as the World Bamboo Day. Various nations, including the Philippines, have pushed for the increase in people’s awareness of bamboo’s importance in our lives, as House Resolution 197 added to the recognition to proclaim the month of September as the Philippine Bamboo Month.

DOST-PTRI Researchers Bag 2nd and 3rd Place of the PAASE and APAMS Rapid Fire Competition under the Material Science Cluster

TAGUIG CITY – The Philippine – American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE), a non-profit organization composed of various scientists and engineers of Philippine descent who are engaged in scholarly and research-related activities, and the 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting (APAMS) concluded its first virtual anniversary celebration on August 14, 2020. One of the activities was the awarding of the winners to the Rapid Fire Competition, wherein three winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd places) for each of the four clusters (Ecology & Marine Science, Plant Science & Agricultural, Material Science & Technology, Disease, Medicine, & Pharmaceutical Clusters) were announced. Out of the six presenters under the Material Science Cluster, the DOST – Philippine Textile Research Institute researchers bagged the 2nd and 3rd places.
