TAGUIG CITY – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is one with the nation in celebrating the Made-in-the-Philippines Products Week, August 17 – 23 of every year, as stated in Proclamation No. 76 by the late President Manuel Quezon in 1936. For the past 57 years, the celebration has highlighted the country’s end products, the homegrown industries, and the creative talent integral to economic independence and nation-building strategies.

DOST-PTRI and DOH-PHST Recommend Minimum Specifications for Non-medical Face Masks for Community Use
DOST-Philippine Textile Research Institute and the DOH-Public Health Services Team, tasked by an Inter-Agency Task Force composed of the DTI, TESDA, DBM, DILG and other Agencies, established the minimum specifications for non-medical cloth face masks for community use. These minimum specifications are based on the World Health Organization's (WHO) recommendations, recent studies conducted by the Institute, and published researches of international research and development institutions and organizations. Guidance on additional tests to ensure safety and protection was also included as part of recommendations.

TAGUIG CITY – Five scientific papers of DOST-PTRI researchers submitted as posters were presented in the Rapid Fire Competition which was held today, August 12, 2020, as part of this year’s celebration of the 40th Philippine – American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE) Anniversary & 2020 APAMS (Annual Scientific Meeting) Philippines.

DOST-PTRI Donates 24,000 REwear Face Masks to BJMP through OCD-NDRRMC

BICUTAN, TAGUIG CITY – The DOST-PTRI delivered 24,000 pieces of the DOST - funded REwear Face Masks Made Smart to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) through the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD-NDRRMC). This is in line with the objective of a quick response project in support of the commitment to the ‘Bayanihan to Heal as One Act’ to beat the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines.
