The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) mounted the KatHABI: A Textile Innovation Exhibit at the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) from February 26 to March 01, at the DBM Boncodin Hall. The opening of the exhibit was graced by DOST Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. and DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.

KATHABI: A TEXTILE INNOVATION SHINES AT THE SENATE OF THE PHILIPPINES

As part of National Arts Month, the DOST-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in partnership with the Office of the Senate President Pro Tempore Hon. Loren Legarda, organized an exhibit entitled "KatHABI: Textile Innovation Exhibition" from February 5th to 8th, 2024, at the 2nd Floor Hallway, Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City. The opening was graced by Sen. Loren Legarda, Sen. Nancy Binay, DOST Secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr., Senate Secretary Atty. Renato N. Bantug Jr., DOST-PTRI Director Dr. Julius L. Leaño, Jr., and Filipino-American Fashion Designer Anthony Cruz Legarda.

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) recently had the privilege of co-organizing its KatHABI Exhibit with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). The exhibit not only showcased progress in Philippine Tropical Fabrics, Bamboo-based Textiles, Pineapple-based Textiles, and Natural Dyes but also highlighted the fruitful collaborations between DOST-PTRI and various government entities.

DOST Makes Cagayan de Oro the Host of the 5th Philippine Silk Summit

On 29 February 2024, the City of Cagayan de Oro will host a milestone event for the Philippine silk industry - the 5th Philippine Silk Summit. Organized by the Department of Science and Technology's Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), the summit brings together key stakeholders across the silk value chain intending to strengthen cooperation and work towards a sustainable and self-sufficient Philippine silk sector.
