DOST-PTRI GATHERS TEXTILE INNOVATORS IN THE 2022 PHILIPPINE TEXTILE CONGRESS
The Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) is launching the 2022 Philippine Textile Congress, a platform for researchers, students, creatives, industry partners, and textile experts to converge, converse and collaborate to spur innovation in Philippine textiles. With the theme "Intertwining the Philippine Textile Innovation Ecosystem," the Congress brings together stakeholders that define and shape the Philippine Textile Research and Innovation Network. The Congress has three Main Events - the Textile Research Colloquium, Fashion Design Exhibition, and the Textile Innovation Dialogues. From November 8 to 24, 2022, the Philippine Textile Congress will spark a fresh new take on the multi-faceted Philippine textiles as a driver for an inclusive, creative and sustainable textile industry.

Two years since the pandemic began, the celebration for the 2022 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) kicked off in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) on September 20 to 22, 2022 via a hybrid platform (on-site and online). With the theme, "Agham at Teknolohiya, Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan", the NSTW in CAR is one of the regional celebrations for the 2022 NSTW.

PTRI MEDICAL TEXTILE TESTING CENTER SUPPORTS LOCAL PPE MANUFACTURERS

The Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), the textile research arm of the DOST, has inaugurated the PTRI Medical Textile Testing Center (PMTTC), the first and only medical textile testing center in the country.
With the theme, “Instilling Trust Amidst Pandemic and Post-Pandemic Through the PTRI Medical Textile Testing Center”, a hybrid event was held on June 24, 2022, physically in Bicutan, Taguig City, and virtually via Zoom and Facebook Live. Together with the Chemical Testing Laboratory and the Physical Testing Laboratory, the Microbiological Testing Laboratory was unveiled as the newest testing laboratory of the Institute.

The Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center – Iloilo Turnover Ceremony

To commemorate the transfer of the operational control and management of the Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center (RYPIC) from the Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) to the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), a turnover ceremony was held on May 24, 2022. The celebration came after the signing of the Technology Transfer Agreement between DOST-PTRI and ISAT U on January 27, 2022.
The event commenced with the unveiling of the RYPIC Iloilo marker led by DOST Sec. Fortunato T. de la Peña, Dr. Raul F. Muyong (ISAT U), Dir. Celia B. Elumba (DOST-PTRI), Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga (DOST Region VI), Ms. Noreen C. Bautista (Panublix) and Hon. Macario N. Napulan (LGU-Miagao). Also present were RYPIC Iloilo partners, weavers, media, and other government agencies and officials. This was followed by a brief tour inside the RYPIC facility where RYPIC yarns and finished products were on display.
